Hopefully everyone got to celebrate National Trails Day. If you have no idea what I’m talking about it is a celebration of trails started by the American Hiking Society. All over the nation there were events enjoying the outdoors and/or being Stewards in these areas we all enjoy to keep them maintained. These organized events are a great way to meet new people, enjoy the outdoors, and possibly give back to these areas.
This year my wife and I attended an event created by Trails Pittsburgh and sponsored by REI at Settlers Cabin Park. This event was a stewardship event to help maintain some of the beautiful trails down near the waterfall at the park. This consisted of many things from building bridges to directing water runoff off the trails to make them less mucky and so much more.
We had a blast and met some new people and also got to help improve some of the trails we enjoy using. Wish I would have taken more pictures for all of you but we were busy getting our hands dirty. If your local to Pittsburgh I would definately recommend looking up Trails Pittsburgh. They seem to be a great group doing awesome things to help maintain the local outdoors areas. Who knows we might even get to see you at one of their events.
I hope you all enjoyed national trails day so please leave a comment sharing what you did to celebrate the trails. Also remember to follow me on social media so you never miss another post. We have had a slight stumble on posts due to a lot of recent changes in life outside the blog but we will be starting to continue on as normal. Again thanks for reading.
