Recently we had the opportunity to go visit Coopers Rock in Morgantown, WV. When we first arrived we had to park in the first parking lot because the road was closed for the winter months. This left us with a 3 mile hike to get to the overlook area. Luckily this has been a mild winter and there wasn’t very much snow which made it a lot easier to hike. The trails didn’t have very many blazes but with the small amount of snow cover it was still fairly easy to follow the trails.
Along the trails we hadn’t rly seen many people and after about the first mile we hadn’t even seen many foot prints. This serenity made this a very nice hike. During this time of year there was literally no one at the overlook which was very awesome. This gave Jess a chance to practice some yoga with the magnificent view. Due to the cold weather we took our photos and started the 3 mile hike back before dark.
This hike was very enjoyable and the terrain was relatively simple. Depending on the weather conditions this trip could be enjoyed by novice and experienced hikers. The views from the overlook are alone worth the trip. During the warmer months you can also drive to the overlook should you not want to hike it. This was a very enjoyable location and I hope to return to it again.
